DOKHONTOU represents a journey expressed through African movement that is both deeply personal and forever communal. African dance is rooted and centered in human expression: an organic response to the world around us and to the range of human experiences. It is also a form of social communication used in various African communities. At its core, African dance is a way of connecting, exchanging, and passing on important traditions between people. This live performance showcased movement and visual elements from traditional West African and contemporary African culture featuring Senegalese traditional dance, Mbalax, Afrobeats, Coupe Decale, Ndombolo and Amapiano.
